BCPL

Short for Basic Combined Programming Language, BCPL is a programming language developed in 1966 by Martin Richards of the University of Cambridge that became very popular because of its portability. BCPL is the successor to the CPL programming language and was the first language to print the infamous Hello World! test message and the first programming language used to create the first MUD.
